Basic Information: What is Flexitol Medicated Foot Cream?

This review will investigate LaCorium Health Flexitol Medicated Foot Cream. The manufacturer alleges this cream to be capable of treating Tinea Pedis (Athlete’s Foot), Tinea Corporis (Ringworm) and Tinea Cruris (Jock Itch). It is intended to be fast acting, prevent Tinea Pedis and soothe symptoms of cracking, discomfort and scaling and also cools burning feet. By reading onwards, you will be made aware of the ingredients within Flexitol Medicated Foot Cream and what information we discovered about it when we looked into it.

Formula

  • Tolnaftate (1%)
  • Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Leaf Juice
  • Benzalkonium Chloride Solution
  • Cetearyl Alcohol
  • Ceteth 20
  • Fragrance
  • Glycerin
  • Menthol
  • Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum)
  • Petrolatum
  • Propylene Glycol
  • Polysorbate 60
  • Sodium Phosphate
  • Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E)
  • Urea
  • Water

Tolnaftate is an active antifungal agent that can treat and prevent fungal infections. Menthol is an analgesic that can help discomfort and soreness by cooling and soothing irritated feet. Urea removes the dried, cracked and scaly outermost skin layers so that the antifungal has a lower surface area to work on. This allows the antifungal agent to work more efficiently. This cream is described as being safe for diabetics to use.

Directions

Medicated Foot Cream must be placed on cleaned and dried skin. Only a small layer of cream is required to treat the affected area twice a day in the morning and the night. Do not diverge from these instructions unless advised differently by a doctor. Treatment should daily carry on for four weeks. Children should be well supervised when using this product. To prevent Athlete’s Foot, apply the cream one or two times a day.

Price

On the Flexitol website, a coupon available to print gives you $1 off any Flexitol product. Drugstore.com sells 2oz of Medicated Foot Cream for $7.99 although they say that $8.49 is the recommended price for this product. This excludes the shipping price, which is $5.99, and the tax that will be added depending on your address. You have the option to have the product automatically ordered and shipped in the future every 30, 60, 90, 120 or 180 days. This automatic reorder option gives you the opportunity to discount 10% or more on your purchases. They offer free shipping when you spend over $35 on an order. At the time of writing, there was a retailer on Amazon that sold a 2oz tube for $7.97 and another that sold a pack of two 2oz tubes for $14.37. These prices do not include shipping charges.

What to Expect

You will not like this product’s odor if you dislike the smell of menthol; I certainly did not. When I tried this product, I believed the smell was unpleasantly strong and off putting. It was horrible to be expected to put it on not once but twice a day. Having used it for over 3 weeks, I have found that it works well enough although I do not think it is the miracle cure the manufacturer portrays it as being. The menthol certainly cools the feet but the moisturizing element of the cream left my feet moist, which actually started to make the athlete’s foot a bit worse before I came up with a solution. I would suggest wearing a pair of socks to absorb the excess moisture and then switching to fresh ones to go about your day in.

Keep an Eye Out

Flexitol Medicated Foot Cream can make your feet feel moister so you should ensure that you have a method to take some of this moisture away. Urea can cause irritation to children’s skin. This product cannot be used to treat a child under two unless your medical professional tells you otherwise. You must prevent getting this cream in your eyes. Rinse them well immediately if this does happen. If the cream irritates your skin or your athlete’s foot condition has not gotten better after four weeks, stop the cream’s use and consult a medical professional. If a pet or child accidentally ingest this cream then seek medical assistance immediately from a veterinarian or medical professional respectively.

Manufacturer’s Commitment

The manufacturer has not outlined a guarantee, as they do not sell the products themselves. Any guarantee is dependent on the retailer that the item is purchased from and so it may not be feasible to return the item. You must ensure that you are aware of any return policies at the time of purchase and if there are conditions attached to these policies such as an unopened state. Policies vary from retailer to retailer and so it is your responsibility to be familiar with them. The manufacturer has shared many testimonials on their website but these are all positive and have been specially chosen. Based on customer reviews outside of Flexitol’s website, it is clear that Flexitol Medicated Foot Cream is considered very effective and is praised by a number of customers. However, a few complaints about its strong odor have been made while others have found the smell to be quite pleasant, showing that not every consumer will be happy with this product and not only effectiveness can be taken into account in this case.

The Bottom Line

Based on reviews, Flexitol Medicated Foot Cream appears to be effective and easy to use. It can ease the symptoms of Athlete’s Foot and act as a preventative. The product has been positively reviewed by a number of people who thought that the product worked very well. However, the cream was described as greasy, which could in fact add moisture to the skin and worsen the condition, and the odor was described as unpleasant by a few individuals. The odor of the cream is a strong one and so if you dislike creams that are strongly fragranced, you are advised to steer clear of this one.  There is no solid guarantee as you are reliant on the policies of the seller rather than the manufacturer and so if you feel that any aspect of the cream, such as the odor or ingredients, may not agree with you then you should either avoid this product or else ensure that you have a seller with a fair guarantee. The product does have the advantage of being safe for diabetics to use, which is particularly good as they can have a number of issues with their feet. Additionally, the product may be considered quite cheap although once again an aspect is reliant on the seller: price. You should look for the best deal for you. However, if you buy the product online then you can expect to pay extra in tax and in the cost of shipping so this product may turn out to be more expensive than it might first appear to be. Whether this product might suit you is not for us to determine although we hope to have provided you with enough information to come to a decision about this.
